6 Month Checkup

Well, happy Snow Day to us! I can't complain about getting all this extra time with Kai....we've had three snow days in the past two weeks plus MLK, Jr Day! Wuhoo! I love January! :) I decided I better use my time off wisely and update the blog...it's been a while! Sorry!

Kai had his 6 month check up this week. (Even though he'll be 7 months next week!) It went well! I didn't take off so it was a boys outing. I'm sure I annoyed Derek with my special "book" full of our questions and notes for the nurses....he patiently listened and did everything I asked him to-what a great husband! :) Kai is almost 19 pounds!!! However, he's only in the 58th percentile for weight! I couldn't believe it! Of course Derek was concerned and thinks we should put him on protein shakes!!! Just kidding!! He's in the 50 percentile for height and 75th percentile for his head. :) He's going to be a smartie, right??? Hehe! He had four shots again and his last oral dose of Rotavirus....I think he won't have as many shots for the next few appointments. He did really well that afternoon...I could tell he was sore, but by the end of the evening he was crawling around! Yes, he's crawling...it's not the "prettiest" thing, but he's moving more than just rolling. We've attached a video.....we'll put more up once he gets going better! The pediatrician also said that his hydrocele looked better...so keep those fingers crossed that it closes up and heals on it's own!!!!

We're having fun trying new foods out. He seems to like everything we've been giving him.....so far he's tried sweet potatoes, squash, avacado, apples and bananas. We also started him on oatmeal cereal for some variety. Next week he's going to try peas and pumpkin. I'm betting he'll like those too!  After talking to the pediatrican, we need to be feeding him more though! We had just been doing it twice a day and she recommended three times a day! Poor guy, didn't mean to starve him! Oopps! How were we supposed to know???  I think he survived just fine! 19 pounds???? Yep, he's just fine! Not too much longer and we're going to have to switch our carseats!!

Kai's still doing great with naps in the crib. It seems like he's even more happier (if that's even possible!!) because he sleeps longer and can stretch out. Why didn't we start that sooner???? All these things we're learning......
Well, that's about all I can think of for now. Enjoy the pics and videos. Thanks for reading! :)
