It's been pretty crazy around here the last month or so. Miss Leela is giving us a run for our money. It started right around her 4 month birthday. She started waking up a little earlier in the night. Didn't think much of it. Then waking up once turned into waking up twice. Then three times. Then four. Most of the time she would wake up and babble and then start crying. She would eat and go back to sleep. Then she started having trouble with her daytime naps. She would only sleep for 30 minutes, if that. Once she started waking up several times at night, I thought something was up. I wondered if it was because she started rolling around or maybe she was teething. When she started waking up ten minutes after she had gone to bed for the night screaming, it was obvious she was in some serious pain. She couldn't get comfortable on me. She would arch her back and kick her legs and appear to be in serious pain. It seemed like every time after she had eaten she would wake up shortly after screaming and then not be able to go back to sleep. After weeks of this, we think she must have gerd (acid reflux). So we started rice cereal to help have something solid in her tummy. She's also started a mild medication that she takes before bed. It seems to be helping a considerable amount at night. She still wakes up a lot, but is able to go back to sleep pretty easy, which was not the case off meds. I don't know how that poor girl is doing it. She's been getting little sleep and is just as happy as can be all day! I wish she could talk so I could know exactly what the problem is. It's all been a guessing game! I've cut some things from my diet hoping that will help out too. They say after she's had the medication for two weeks, it should be a lot better. Keep your fingers crossed that this is the problem. This has been a very exhausting journey! :)
Apparently, we have lots of medical news in this house. All three kids have had eye infections within the past two weeks. They've called it pink eye, but it doesn't look like pink eye to me. I've been a little crazy about changing bed sheets and washing everything in sight. I figured once one kid had it, the rest would follow. :) Derek actually had it first and now Grayson's the last one to get it and so hopefully after his meds are done, we don't have to worry about this anymore! Needless to say, we've become frequent flyers at CVS. Wonder if they do punch cards? :) We should qualify for a free prescription after the past few weeks!
We had a very busy and special Easter. We had our family celebration on Saturday and then had celebrations at Derek's parents and mine on Easter. It was a very crazy day and all three kids were wonderful! I think the boys could hunt for eggs every day! They love it!
Both the boys had their last "library class" this week. The summer storytime is at a park. You bring a blanket and snack and read books and sing songs for about 20-30 minutes and then go play on the playground afterward. I'm excited I get to take the boys to that one! We'll also start the summer reading program again, which the boys loved last summer.
Kai has been working on potty training at night. He was wearing pull-ups, but has decided that he's ready to just wear big boy undies. We are so proud of him. He's doing so well! He filled up his first sticker chart and picked out a superhero DVD. I'm shocked it was that and not a guy!!! He's been doing flag football on Saturdays. It's a lot like his soccer, where it's the child and parent. They learn different drills and then practice them. I think Kai likes wearing belt with this flags and taking "water breaks" the most!
Grayson's getting his last molar in-YAY! Poor little guy's had such a hard time with those molars. I think we are ALL ready for them to be in and done. (Just in time for Miss Leela to start getting some! :)) He has become quite the outdoors man and would stay out forever if we let him. This nice weather has been great for getting out!
Well, I think that's about all the news I can think of. Thanks for reading and sorry it took so long to post. I actually worked on this tonight on four different occasions. I was determines to get it done!!!!!! :)
