Happy Holidays!

Well, time keeps getting the best of me and I'm not doing good at updating the blog-SORRY! We are having lots of fun with Kai like usual. He has really enjoyed looking and touching the half decorated Christmas tree. :) He's actually done pretty well with it. The first week was a little hard to learn self control, but he's gotten used to it now! We attempted pictures with Santa twice and he turned him down both times.....guess we'll stick to books with Santa in them for now! We're trying to get Kai get ready for his new room. We've been going in there every day talking about his new crib, new chair and new everything else so we'll see how he does! He seems to be pretty excited about it all! Hoping to get him moved while I'm on break! Baby Brown #2 is doing well. He's measuring right on track and already 30 weeks old! Can't believe that he will be in about 10 weeks...February 23rd will be here before we know it!
Here's some pics and videos from the past few months. I can't take credit for most of the pics--Grandma Warta captured some good ones for us! As far as the videos, Derek's already working on football plays and taught him his first "move".  (I love how he's sucking his thumb before he does his football play....is he going to do that when he's older????) The second video is a little funny--bear with us....I tried MANY times to get him to do these things on my own and we finally had to "bribe" him with a sucker...haha, didn't think I'd be doing that so early! :) Still trying to get him to talk, so it has a few "words" we're working on!

GI Joe

As many of you already know, Kai is just a little OBSESSED with GI Joe. Derek has lots of GI Joe toys and started getting them out months ago to show Kai. He has really enjoyed playing with them and even watching the show--it's the only thing he likes! (Word to the wise:You might want to start brushing up on your GI Joe names....haha!) Derek has several figurines in his collection and has let Kai keep a few out to play with. Kai could play with them all day--he runs around with them, wants you to put them on cars or make tents, reads to them, puts them down for naps, pretends to feed them water and even puts them in his high chair for "meal time". His latest favorite thing to do with them is line them all up on the table and just look at them or ask you to move them around in a different order. He's so funny! As a special surprise, Derek got out ALL of his figurines and lined them all up for Kai. Here's the video. He was in awe! Since he's not into talking AT ALL(can you tell the teacher in me is struggling with this!?!??!), he's making all of his crazy noises and sounds to express his excitement! :)

Happy Halloween!

We had a busy and fun October! We drove to Minnesota for a long weekend so that Derek's family could all meet Kai and had a great time! Kai did pretty well for an 8 1/2 hour car ride! He had fun meeting all the family, playing with the other baby cousins and of course entertaining everyone! :)

Halloween was also a good time. Kai dressed up as a dinosaur-thank you Grandma Brown for the costume! He had many trick-or-treating opportunities to visit family and friends and like usual, was spoiled by everyone! We did do a little trick-or-treating on Halloween in our neighborhood and he LOVED it. He liked picking out a piece of candy and getting attention from the adults. Shocker! :)

Hard to believe that it's November already. We are so thankful for the many blessings we have and for our family and friends. Great time of year for this reminder.
Thanks for reading!  Enjoy the pics!

Fall 2011

I know...it's been WAY too long and I'm so sorry! I don't know where time is going! I can't believe Baby Brown #2 is 21 weeks old already! He's going to be here before we know it! We keep talking to Kai about his baby brother, but I know he doesn't have ANY idea what he's in store for! He loves babies, but I don't think he will know what to do with one that's here 24/7!
I've enclosed a few pics....he had one of his "girlfriends" over this week and tried to kiss her within the first 5 minutes...Derek was proud, but should I be concerned?!??! :) It was sweet. Enjoy!

Kai's 1st Fort

Kai had fun this past weekend playing in his fort that Derek made. It was cute watching him go in and out. He certainly enjoyed playing inside of it and preferred us to go in with him as much as possible! Brought back some childhood memories of my own! Have a feeling there will be many more forts in our future! :)

Kai has something to share.....

Kai would like you to know....

Yep, that's right! Baby Brown #2 is on the way and will be arriving around February 23rd! We are SOO excited and can't wait to meet this little one! I'm about 14 1/2 weeks right now and feeling well. The first trimester wasn't too bad. I felt sick, but it wasn't as much or as often as it was with Kai. We will find out the sex the first week in October. We are so thankful to have another miracle on the way!

(For all you Facebookers, I haven't posted the exciting news yet...we wanted to share with family first! I plan on doing that some time this week!)

Here's a few other pics of Kai. We walked down to the school this weekend and played on the playground. I think Kai liked the walking part best! He looks so "grown up" in shoes...I wish time would slow down!!

Grandpa's Helper and Jeep tent

Here's two more videos...the first one is of Kai helping Grandpa Warta...he found where Grandpa keeps all the Gatorade bottles in the back room so he would bring them in one at a time for Grandpa to put in the fridege...he did this until they were all gone.....I know he would have kept going had there been more!!! He was so proud of himself!

The second one is of him playing in his Jeep tent he got for his birthday from Grandpa and Grandma Brown. He was scared to go in this for the longest time....then he decided it wasn't so frightening after all! Now, I think he could play in there all day! :)

Walking!

I know it's taken a VERY long time to get a video up of Kai walking, but every time I would try, he would walk in front of the camera or walk away...we finally got a decent one! :) It's been so much fun watching him "explore" the house while he walks around--he just LOVES it! We thought all the walking would wear him out and he'd sleep more, but that's not the case! We're pretty confident he's ready to just have one nap now! We're also all done with bottles-yay! He's adjusting to having milk out of a sippy cup pretty well.
My summer is quickly coming to an end and it's hard to believe. I feel like it was just the last day of school not long ago! I've had lots of fun with Kai and while we didn't do everything we intended, it was a great summer! I can't believe how much happened these past few months! How much longer till Winter Break? Ha! :) Enjoy the video! Thanks for reading!

Iowa Weekend-4th of July

We had a GREAT time celebrating Grandma Chapman's 80th Birthday and spending time with the family! Wish we could see everyone more often! We went swimming at the hotel pool on Monday...Kai wasn't completely sure about it all, but he got used to it by the end of our time there!

**Thanks again to Kyle and Ashley for taking some GREAT pics!
