First Day of School!

Summer has officially ended and the first day of school was last Thursday. We had a Sneak a Peek night beforehand to meet the teacher and bring in our school supplies. Kai was VERY nervous and as soon as we walked inside, the principal immediately recognized that and came over to talk to Kai. He told him all about Sunnyside and how great the school is. Then, he proceeded to tell him that he would get a ticket for himself and siblings from his teacher to take to the ice cream truck in the parking lot for a popsicle. Kai LOVED that idea and you could tell some of his nerves went away immediately! :) Pretty smart idea in my opinion! ;)
Kai's teacher is new to the school this year with many years experience as a preschool teacher. She has children at the school currently. She seems like a perfect fit for Kindergarten-very kind, patient and soft spoken. I think Kai is going to have a great year. It sounds like he's already filling his teacher in on all sorts of information-he feels comfortable already! :) We have Back to School night this week where we learn what they will do all year and have a change to sign up for snacks, parties, etc. I can't wait! :) There's a picture of the reading loft in his room. Kai loves the fact that there's a ladder to climb up to go read books. He spotted the stuffed Spider Man immediately, I knew he would want to be up there!
Grayson is excited to be the oldest in the house for a few hours each morning. He likes picking what to do while Kai is gone. He is however, ready to go get him after a few hours. I think he misses his playmate. :) Leela, Grayson and I will be taking a Bible study course this year and he will be in his own class, as will Leela, for a few hours each week. He's excited to have some of his own "school". Storytime starts in about a month so he will be able to attend that too. He and I are going to have some school time at home as well to start working on letters and numbers. I can't wait. :)
Leela continues to keep us on our toes. She is FINALLY sleeping through the night, which makes all of us happier. After our trip to Iowa and Minnesota, Derek discovered she wakes up at TON during the night rolling around. She didn't fuss in her pack n play because is was soft. We realized we needed to try a bumper pad in her crib and see if it would work the same. Voila, the girl sleeps and takes good naps! I often have to wake her up from them now! Who would have known?????? Sure wish we could have solved this one sooner, but at least we've got it now! She still seems to know the nights that Derek's gone at work and sometimes wakes up then, but we are MUCH better now! Yay! We've also weaned her from acid reflux meds and she's doing fine without them. The specialist said they normally outgrow it by 18 months if they didn't around 10 or 11 months. So happy to have that behind us too! ;)
I think our biggest news is that I'm pregnant! Baby is coming around February 10th and we are very excited! The boys will get to be roommates, which they can't wait to do! We have decided that we will find out if it's a boy/girl and that will be end of September. Very curious! I'm feeling much better now  that first trimester is over. This time around has by far been the hardest....lots of nausea and tired ALL the time. I've still been taking naps almost every day...still not able to make it through the day!
Thanks for reading and enjoy the pics!
