Last week of "summer" fun!

I can't believe the summer is already over..where did time go?!??! Easton starts coming over on Monday. Let the fun begin! I'm really excited and even more curious what the boys think of having a new friend over 5 days a week! :) I've been used to having some "freedom" in the mornings with tutoring or running errands so it will be be an adjustment to be home from 7:15-4:15 every day. I can't wait for the weather to cool down so we can go on evening walks too--think I'm going to need them! :)
Many of you know that I've had a month long birthday celebration. I suppose I've earned it if I turned 30, right? :) I had a chance to celebrate with so many people...it was lots of fun! Derek and I had a date night, went out with the girls, had a birthday breakfast with some friends and had multiple family celebrations. The best part of it might have been the Costco cake. :) Have you ever had it?!?!?! Sheet cake with vanilla mouse in the middle and incredibly rich frosting on top...my kind of cake. Especially the corner pieces! :) Funny thing is you have to order a half sheet of it...I would be able to eat the whole thing over a week or so, but decided that might not be the best idea so we put a lot of it in the freezer for later....guess my birthday month just turned into a birthday year! :) Truely was a special birthday for me!
Grayson still continues to puzzle us with his sleep. :) He's been doing better. We decided to try gas drops the last few feedings each day to see if that helps. He hasn't been waking up as often so we're hoping this is the solution. Still waiting for him to sleep through the night without waking up!!! :) He's still taking good naps during the day and even decided to start taking one when Kai naps too so I get some extra sleep here and there too! We just started cereal tonight. He did pretty well with it! His faces were hilarious...he didn't know what to think of it! I'll try to get a video next time!
We are meeting to evaluate Kai's speech plan. He will continue to stay in speech, but we are changing his goal focusing more on the articulation aspect. Sometimes he puts some crazy sounds together for some of his words so we hoping to really focus on that and see if we can figure out what he's doing exactly. His teacher will give me a specific set of sounds to work on at home for 6 weeks and then she'll come back for us to regroup and go from there.
Think that's about all the excitement around here! Enjoy the pics!
First time with cereal!!!

I don't know about this stuff....

Grayson's 5 months!

Can you believe Grayson's 5 months??? Crazy! Our little chunker is such a delight--love to see him smile and hear his laugh! :) I haven't weighed him recently, but I'm willing to bet he's over 17 pounds by now for sure!
Grayson still enjoys playing on his tummy and usually rolls right over as soon as you set him down. He's into screaming and experimenting with his vocals these days...something Kai likes to repeat! :) Lots of noise going on in the Brown household! Still can't seem to figure him out with sleeping...he's been taking fewer longer naps during the day, but he's still struggling to sleep through the night...usually wakes up 4-5 times. We're going to try cereal pretty soon so perhaps that will help. We've tried all sorts of things with milk and that doesn't seem to matter--eating more often during the day, having extra after he feeds, spacing out feedings longer....just not sure! When he wakes up, sometimes he can go right back to sleep on his own, sometimes justs needs his binky and a rock for minute and other times he's up for an hour! Good thing Derek works so late and can stay up with him-usually around the 2 am hour. (I think he's figured out this is how he can get alone time with his Daddy....) Sometimes he eats during the night, but not usually....sure wish he would figure out that we all love to sleep through the night!  Some day he'll get on that bandwagon.....so for now, I'll grin and bear it because before too long it will all be over and I'll probably be sad about it! Haha! :) I think my body is used to getting 2 hours blocks of sleep all night long because whenever I get more than that, I'm more tired the next day!!!! What's my body going to do when I can finally sleep through the entire night!?!?!?!??!?!
Kai's still Mr. Chatty. We love hearing him talk to us and himself-always entertaining and you never know what he's going to say! :) He stays busy, busy like usual!
I've attached some pics of the boys...Kai got an easel for his birthday so there's some pics of the artist hard at work! There's also a short video of the boys...Kai attempts singing his ABC's, but then gets distracted and wants to watch the Batman video I posted last time....haha! We also went to see the great great grandmas on 4th of July so there's some pics from that!  Enjoy! Thanks for reading!
Happy boy!!!

Kai's 2nd Birthday

Well, life is crazy around here(what else is new?!? :)) and I'm finding it hard to believe it's already July!!! Where did all the time go? I've got about a month left of "summer" before work starts....hard to believe!!!! Day to day life keeps us so busy! We've been making regular trips to the library...Kai enjoys bringing his summer reading program folder up to the desk to get his sticker....although last time he kind of threw it up there and then just stood there sucking his thumb waiting for the gentleman to help him....haha. Guess he knows the drill by now and wasn't there to socialize with the librarian! Down to business! Kai still enjoys going to the pool with Daddy and making new friends.
Last week Kai had Little Angels Bible School at church. (This is for 0-5 year olds in my Mothers of Young Children group.) We were able to make it to a few of the days...he wasn't too interested in circle time...he would much rather be up playing or running around or taking off pieces from the teacher's felt board while she was teaching!!!! Oh my!!! Needless to say, this "teacher's kid" needs a little practice with school settings. He did last a few minutes longer the next day with circle time, so I think he'll get the hang of it! Some of us were laughing because it was all boys that were running around while the girls were sitting nicely listening. :)

On 4th of July, we went with Nana and Papa to go see the Great Great Grandmas in Valley Falls. Kai was of course his crazy, entertaining self and Grayson spent most of the time staring at him....wonder if he's taking all this is and learning what to do so that when he's older he can do the same thing.....yikes! Neither of them had met Grayson so was happy to make the trip up! They were excited to see them both!

Thanks to Ashley and Nana, I've got LOTS of awesome pictures from Kai's GI Joe birthday! As you'll notice, some of us were dressed up as some of the characters. :) When everyone arrived to the party, Kai picked out a GI Joe character picture for them to wear as well as their dog tags. Kai had a great time at his party! Thanks to everyone that came and spoiled that guy! I still have a hard time facing the fact that he's not a baby anymore!!!! He's so grown up!

I've attached a few videos of the boys and then there's pics from the party! Enjoy!
